Mysterious Art – Das Omen (12” Mix)

Mysterious Art was founded by Michael Krautter in 1988. Das Omen was initially meant to be an instrumental piece, and soon became an underground hit in german clubs in late 1988. After Mike Staab and CBS showed interest in the song, vocals were written and added, and Mysterious Art had a huge hit on their hands. The band had a short lived career in the late 80′s and early 90′s.

Martika – More Than You Know (Dance Mix)

Martika is an American singer who enjoyed great success in the late 80′s and early 90′s. This song is a single from her debut album simply called Martika, which was released in 1988. The song was written by Michael Jay, Marvin Morrow and Martika herself. It was produced by Michael Jay, and remixed by John “Jellybean” Benitez.

Rose Laurens – American Love (Passion Mix)

Rose Laurens is a french singer/songwriter, who rose to fame in 1982 with her smash hit single Africa. This is actually the english version of her song Quand Tu Pas, and lovingly remixed here by Nigel Wright and Robin Sellars. I prefer this version to the orginal extended, but I guess that’s a matter of taste. Song is written and produced by J. Pierre Goussaud and Francis Cabrel.

Scarlet Fantastic – No Memory (Extra Sensory Mix)

Scarlet Fantastic released this song back in October 1987. This was actually their only U.K chart success. Such a shame, since I personally think that this band had so much potential. Just listen to the entire album and the other singles released. Scarlet Fantastic consisted of Maggie De Monde and Rick P. Jones. This rip is taken from the UK CD Single, and remixed here by Pete Hammond for PWL.

Stacey Q – Don’t Make A Fool Of Yourself (Shep Pettibone Remix)

Stacey Q hit it big time with the hits Two Of Hearts and We Connect back in 1986, which was taken from the debut album Better Than Heaven. My personal favourite is this little gem from 1989 remixed here to perfection by Shep Pettibone. The song was written and produced by Jon St. James, Skip Hahn and Stacey Swain, and is taken from the 1988 dance album Hard Machine.

Fox The Fox – Precious Little Diamond (Remix)

The band formed back in 1981 by Bert Tamaela and Sylhoutte Musmin, and ended up with a line-up consisting of great musicians, which included Gino Jansen on bass, Tjalling Bos on drums and of cause Sylhoutte Musmin on keyboards and Bert Tamaela on guitar and vocals. Who said one hit wonder, well I did, but who do not remember this track from 1984, here remixed by Shep Pettibone.

Jaki Graham – Set Me Free (Extended Remix)

Jaki Graham is an English singer who found fame back in the 80′s. This song is probably her biggest hit. She started out singing in a group called Ferrari, and went on to have notable solo success during the 80′s and 90′s. She delivered backing vocals for tons of artists as well in that period. The extended version is a lame 4 minute version, so thank god Mark Berry made this dancier remix in 1986.

Robert Palmer – Early In The Morning (12″ Mix)

Well we all know Robert Palmer, no question about that. I absolutely love his version of this song originally done by The Gap Band back in 1982. Robert Palmer released his version 6 years later, and it peaked at #19 on Billboards Hot 100 chart. This 12″ mix was done by Eric “ET” Thorngren, and an even longer plain extended version also exist. Sadly Robert Palmer passed away in 2003. May he rest in peace.

Ryuichi Sakamoto feat. Jill Jones – You Do Me (Justin Strauss Remix)

I have totally forgotten about this song, until I saw the CD-single on Ebay, got it for a bargain. I remember totally getting my groove on to this song back in 1989. Ryuichi Sakamoto is a Japanese musician, composer and actor, but hired the talented Jill Jones to do the vocals here. The song was written and produced by Mr. Sakamoto himself, and remixed here to perfection by Justin Strauss.
